President and CEO
Hooker Furniture Upholstery

MARTINSVILLE , Va. -- Hooker Furniture has reorganized its upholstery companies, Bradington-Young and Sam Moore, under the leadership of Alan Cole , who has been named president and CEO of Hooker Furniture Upholstery.

Cole shifts from executive vice president of upholstery operations to president of Bradington-Young, a leather recliner specialist, and Sam Moore, which makes accent chairs. Cole will direct the management teams for both companies, but they will continue to operate separately with individual sales forces.

“Bradington-Young and Sam Moore are well known and well respected companies and they have great strategic and long term importance to the future of Hooker Furniture,” said Paul Toms, Hooker’s chairman and CEO. “Each upholstery company serves distinct and unique niches and needs to maintain its emphasis on its target customers and specialized product lines. Under Alan’s leadership, each team will focus on market share growth and opportunities for product expansion in its areas of expertise.”

Cole said, “The challenges of the economic downturn and the rapidly changing environment in our industry require us to find new and better ways to serve our markets while retaining the core strengths that have made these companies successful for many years.”

Before joining Hooker, Cole was president and CEO of full-line manufacturer Schnadig from 2004 to 2006, and previously held senior positions with Berkline and Lifestyle Furnishings International. He is based at Sam Moore’s Bedford , Va. , headquarters.
